Subject & verb agreement

1. Simple present

Subject :

★ Singular noun ----->she/he/it-----> V1es/ies/s
★ Plural noun ------> they, we, you, (I) ---->V1

★ Each & Every ----> verbnya harus singular

• Every man, woman, and child needs love

NOTE : Jika ada every di depan kalimat walaupun terdapat kata benda "man, woman, and child" tetap menggunakan singular.

Nani goes fishing every sunday

2. Subject + Prepositional Phrase ----> Verb lihat subjectnya.

★ The book on the table is mine
      The book : Singular. 
      On the table : Preposition phrase. 
      Is mine : Singular

★ The books on the table are mine
      The books : Plural.   
      On the table : Preposition phrase 
      are mine : plural

★ The apples at that market are cheap
      The fruit at those markets is cheap.


3. Subject gerund Ving, maka verb harus singular.

Verbnya menggunakan " is ",  jadi harus singular

Contoh : 

★ Watching old movies is interesting
★ Reading a book is my hobby.
★ Cooking with my brother is fun.
★ Laughing with your family is the best way to boost your mood.
★ Speaking some languages in your daily life, at least two foreign languages, is very beneficial when you study abroad to another country.

Cooking with my father adalah "subject"

Jika singular noun, maka SINGULAR VERB
Jika plural noun, maka PLURAL VERB

★Some of : Some of movies are playing in that theatre.
    some of book in the library is good.

★A lot of : A lot of oranges are eaten by my cousin.
    a lot of orange on the table is very delicious.

★Half of
    Half of children who undergo the exam are being happy.
    Half of her book is totally different with me, although she is my bestfriend.

★None of : 
    None of my schoolmates whose use cassette to listen to the music.
    None of people in this class attend the briefing.
    None of my neighbour see the thief

★Most of : 
    Most of these songs are composed by Miura
    Most of apple in that blanket is mine.

2.One of
One of my friends is here. Atau
One of my friends comes here

3.Every one of
Every one of  people in our company don't agree with the new rules.
Every one of babies need to be breastfeed until 6 months.

JUMLAH dan SEJUMLAH

1. The number of + plural noun ---> jumlah -- singular verb

2. A number of + plural noun ----> sejumlah ---> plural verb.

Contoh :

JUMLAH

-The number of students in this classroom is 16.
-The number of pianos in that shop is 10.
-The number of handphone in her bag is 2.

SEJUMLAH

A number of people are singing in that street.
A number of people sing in that street.
A number of fruit in the box are need to be eaten.
A number of shoes in my house are being sold by my mother.
