Seringkali kali kita merasa kebingungan dan tidak tahu mana kata yang tepat untuk digunakan dalam membentuk kalimat sementara kata tersebut memiliki arti yang mirip.

Accept, receive (verbs)
  • I will accept your offer (say yes to)
  • I didn't receive your letter. (get)
Advice ; advise
  • Let me give you some advise. (noun)
  • The doctor advise me to stay in bed. (verb)

  • The unpleasant experience affected his decisions. (influence verb)

IDIOMS WITH THE WORD "MIND"



what is idioms ? have you ever heard that ?

so let's learn about idioms :) 


An idiom is a phrase where the words together have a meaning that is different from the dictionary definitions of the individual words.. sometimes it can make idioms hard for learner to understand..

DIRECT - INDIRECT SPEECH

Direct speech adalah kutipan asli suatu pembicaraan tanpa adanya suatu perubahan. penulisan direct speech selalu diapit oleh dua tanda kutip dan diawali oleh huruf kapital.

Indirect Speech adalah kalimat dalam bentuk laporan yang berfungsi menceritakan kembali pembicaraan atau perkataan seseorang.

ada tiga jenis kalimat :
1. Imperative (Perintah)
2. Declarative (Pernyataan)
3. interogative (Pertanyaan)

She said it was cold.
Present continuous 
She said, "I'm teaching English online."

Present perfect simple

Expressions of time if reported on a different day
this (evening) -> that (evening)

last weekend  -> the weekend before/ the previous weekend

next (week)     -> the followig (week)
tomorrow           -> the next / following (day)

Modal verb forms also sometimes change:
will       -> would
can        -> could
must        -> had to
shall      -> should
may     ->might

Rubahlah menjadi kalimat dalam bentuk indirect speech.

a. "Please help me!" she told him
    She told him to help her.

b. "Don't worry about it!" he told her
    He told her not to worry about it .

c. "Be more diligent!" the teacher told them
    The teacherold them to be more diligent.

d. My mother told me. "Take the rubbish here!"
    My mother asked me to take the rubbish there.

e. "Don't come before 6 o'clock." I said to him
    I ordered not to come before 6 o'clock to him.

2. Declarative (pernyataan)

Exercise 2

1. "I will tell Jim I saw you "
    He said he would tell Jim that he had seen me.

2.  "I saw Jack at the party last night."
    She said that she had seen Jack at the party the previous night.

3. "I don’t know what Fred is doing"
    Rama told me that he didn’t know what Fred was doing.

4. "Margareth has had a baby"
    She told me that Margareth had had a baby.

5. "Nara and Jim are getting married next month."
    My friend told me that Nara and Jim were getting married the following month.

3. Interrogative (pertanyaan)

Exercise 3

1. "Do you love me?" Ratu asked me .
    Ratu asked me whether i loved her.

2. "Will you tell me what you need?" Prabu asked Ratu
    Prabu asked Ratu if she(Ratu) would tell Prabu what she(Ratu) need.

3. "Are you all right? Heni wondered.
    Heni wondered whether i was all right. 

4. "Mela asked me : "why do you want me to tell it to him?"
    Mela asked me why I wanted her to tell it to him. 

5. "Satria asked him : "how can you do it in a short time?"
    Satria asked him how he did it in a short time.

6. "What is your name?" the stranger asked me
    The stranger asked me what my name is.

7. "May I borrow your car for a moment?" Ratu asked me
    Ratu asked me whether she might borrow my car for then.

8. "What time will you pick me up? Ratu asked me.
    Ratu asked me What time will i picked her up.

9. "Is she a student?" Gerry inquired.
    Gerry inquired if she was a student.

10. "Have you told what I said to you". I asked Jane.
     I asked Jane whether she told what I said to her.
